Jessica varia
Clinical Optometrist
I’m Jessica, an Optometrist from Leicestershire. Since qualifying from University over 5 years ago, I have experience working for one of the larger high-street optician brands where I gained extensive experience and knowledge of the field in a fast-paced environment, interacting with a diverse mix of people of all ages.
Using these skills I have developed, I now enjoy tailoring my practice of Optometry to a more personalised, patient care-first approach in the independent sector.
Both Opticians in the Glass & Glass family are known for their excellent patient care ethos which I believe lies at the heart of a great practice. Alongside the investment, they have made in the latest advanced technology which brings many clinical benefits to diagnosis & a completely personalised, bespoke product range.
Outside of work, I love to travel and experience different cuisines, and cultures and meet people. Additionally, I am a big tennis fan and love to watch the different tournaments throughout the year.
As your Optometrist, I’m excited to build relationships with you and strive to deliver the best-personalised care at the highest standard. I look forward to meeting you at the practice.

Mrs. Ubhi also has a diploma in independent prescribing, allowing her to prescribe eye medications for certain conditions such as allergic eye conditions, dry eye, and eye infections. As well as carrying out eye examinations, she also has a breadth of experience with both soft and hard contact lenses.
In addition to working between both the Loughborough and Long Eaton practices within Glass & Glass, Mrs Ubhi works at Royal Derby Hospital seeing children with squints, amblyopia, and special needs.

Sarah payne
Optical Assistant
I have been working at Culver and Glass for almost 6 years and prior to that I was a patient here for 20-plus years, so understand the importance of providing the best care and service.
I enjoy working within a small practice with a great team, a family feel, and not forgetting lovely patients. I work part-time at our Loughborough branch, working Monday, Tuesday, and Saturdays.
You will normally find me working in reception, assisting patients with choosing from our extensive frame range, fitting and repairing frames, or taking you in for your Optomap.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, we have recently taken on a horse, so my 2 daughters and I spend lots of time looking after him or going out on rides.
I also enjoy going out for meals, meeting up with friends, holidays with my family, and walks out in the countryside

Julie dove
Dispensing Optician
I started at Ryley & Evans 46 years ago, as a receptionist, and 23 years ago took up the opportunity to do the Distance Learning degree in Dispensing. This was the best decision I had ever made!
I take pride in recommending the best products for my patients
I spend time with them finding out what their visual needs are and recommending the appropriate lenses for their everyday wear and more specialised lenses for specific tasks.
I then spend time finding out what style of frames they like to wear. I find frame selection is great fun, trying frames on the patients that they would never have picked up themselves. I always make sure I am happy with the fit before recommending it and that the patient feels confident with the feel and the look.
The reason I have been here so long, is down to all the long-standing loyal patients we have.

lorna stenson
Optical Assistant
Hi, I’m Lorna. I’ve worked at Ryley and Evans as an optical assistant for 5 years.
I completed the Abdo Optical Assistant course in August 2022. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, going out for food and drinks, long walks in nature, and going to the gym.
I love traveling and visiting new places. I lived in Ibiza for 7 months in 2016 as a childcare rep working for TUI.
A fun fact about me is I’ve travelled the east coast of Australia from Cairns down to Sydney and once did a skydive in New Zealand from 19,000ft.

Elaine Clifford
Audiogist
Elaine has worked in audiology since 1991 across both NHS and private sectors. In addition to helping people hear better with hearing aids, Elaine has also specialised in working with adults with learning disabilities, balance patients and tinnitus patients at different points in her career. At The Hearing Care Partnership Elaine has found having the time and opportunity to really listen to her patients, allows her to provide them with the best care and hearing solutions for their needs.
Outside of work I am a keen trail & fell runner who likes nothing better than to scamper around the Peak District, whatever the weather. In 2019, I decided to add to my skill set by taking on the challenge of learning to dinghy sail. I love getting out on the water on my Laser in the idyllic surroundings of Attenborough Nature Reserve. The experience is sometimes peaceful and at other times pure exhilaration depending on the weather!”

Daniel Utting
Group Practice Manager
My name is Dan, and I have worked in the optical field for the last 14 years. To many people, optics is just a job, but for me, it encompasses so much more. Optics has become a true passion for me. Knowing that I am able to assist people with a variety of different technologies and contribute to everyone’s understanding of the optical field brings me a profound sense of pride.
I began my journey many years ago working for a large, well-known optical chain. It was during this time that I pursued my dispensing optician course, and I graduated over four years ago.
Prior to this, I worked in health and safety management, hearing care accreditation processes, and later, practice management. I even managed large, high-turnover multiples. However, it was during my time managing these multiples that I realized I had lost a significant sense of purpose, focusing more on finances and KPIs than on people and optics. This is why I made the transition into the independent sector. I initially worked for Harrison Coley’s before taking on the role of Group Practice Manager. I have never felt more fulfilled than when I can assist patients and witness the business supporting its staff.
I also believe there is a substantial difference in the quality and care that an independent optical provider can offer compared to your typical high street chain.
Thank you for taking the time to read my bio. If you would like advice or to have a conversation about your eye health, I would be delighted to assist you.

Lusinda Pirani
Optical Assistant
I have been in Optics since 2018 . I like that everyday is different, helping patients choose frames and fitting frames based on a personalised service.
Another part of my job is dealing with admin work and contact lens fitting.

Vik Measuria
CEO
From my early days working in River Island’s shoe department, I’ve always held a passion for customer service and retail. This, combined with an inclination towards healthcare, led me to the hybrid world of optometry. My journey began at the age of 17 with Boots Opticians, starting as an optical assistant and grounding myself in the profession.
Pursuing optometry at university set the stage for my role teaching at Manchester University. Further diversifying my experience, I embraced roles such as emergency clinical optometrist at Hinchingbrooke NHS Hospital. In 2009, I established my first independent optical practice, marking a significant milestone in my career.
Throughout my journey, I’ve consistently honed my business skills. One of my proudest achievements is assembling an exceptional team that stands as the backbone of my businesses. Their dedication to client satisfaction and managing day-to-day operations has been instrumental in our success. I am profoundly aware that without the right team, the growth and accomplishments of my businesses over the years wouldn’t be possible.
Today, as the proud owner of a group of optical practices across the UK, our shared vision is clear: provide unparalleled eye health services and optical products. Our guiding principle is to value relationships and personalised care, treating every patient as a unique individual rather than a mere statistic.
My businesses and I have been honoured with numerous awards, bearing testament to our commitment to excellence. As you step into any of our local settings, I am confident that the experience will meet, if not exceed, your expectations.
Combining my entrepreneurial spirit, a deep-rooted passion for optometry, and a world-class team, I lead with a unique perspective. If you’re seeking advice, insights, or simply a conversation around eye health or business, I am here to assist.
