Open For Essential Eye Care

We are pleased to let you know that we are now able to welcome you into practice for any spectacle adjustments, repairs, fittings and there are no longer restrictions on the purchasing of sunglasses or spectacles with a valid prescription.

These will be on an appointment only basis with a locked door policy so as to avoid overcrowding in the practice, allowing for social distancing and the protection of our patients and team.

We are also beginning to look at starting a phased approach to eye examinations from next week so our team can get used to our new approach to eyecare.

According to the new guidance from our professional bodies, we are still unable to do routine eye examinations - those being where you are having no problems with your vision and are coming in for your routine check up.  However, we are now able to provide more comprehensive access to essential eyecare. This may cover, for example, if you feel there has been a change in your vision or if you have any concerns about your eyes, spectacles or contact lenses. It can also cover broken spectacles.

Therefore, if you have any worries about your eyes or feel as though your vision has changed, even if you're unsure whether this would qualify as essential, please give us a call and one of our friendly team can chat with you and assess whether it is appropriate for an eye examination within practice. The spectrum for essential eye care is broader now, so it may well be we are able to see you sooner than you think!  Also, if you were booked in or due for an examination in the past few months, our team will be calling in the coming weeks to check how you are feeling about your current vision and begin to get any problems you may be having dealt with within practice or remotely, as appropriate!

For anyone else, who is hoping to get their eye examination ticked off for the year, but are happy with their current prescription and vision, we are hoping to get back up and running with routine eye examinations in the very near future, with any luck, by July, and we will be touch in due course. We can't wait to be able to welcome you all back into practice with us!

We are aware that some of you may be apprehensive about coming to see us, so wanted to let you know some of the measures we are taking and what to expect if you do come into the practice for an eye examination.

Health, safety and well-being of our patients and the team of course has been at the forefront of our planning over the last few weeks. We are even dreaming about it! In accordance to government guidelines, our professional bodies and our best judgement, just a few of the new safety measures we are putting into practice can be found on the infographic below.
